Modelling Road User Perceptions towards Safety, Comfort, and Chaos at Shared Space: The via Maqueda Case Study, Italy

This study aims to investigate the impacts of perception infrastructure, sociodemographic characteristics, frequency road use, and user on safety, comfort, chaos with respect shared spaces. The case area was Via Maqueda, a street in Palermo, Italy. A face-to-face survey conducted answers 200 participants, who use three active travel modes, namely, walking, cycling, micromobility, were analysed. results obtained from ordered logit models suggest that one-unit higher infrastructure will increase safety comfort perceptions for both walking cycling. Females feel less safe while comfortable cycling at spaces compared males.
